Cops for Cancer Tour de Rock is coming!

Between September 23 and October 6, 19 Cops for Cancer Tour de Rock riders will cycle 1,200km from Port Alice all the way to Victoria. Why? To support children and families living with cancer. All funds raised will go towards pediatric cancer research and a very special place called Camp Goodtimes. Camp Goodtimes is a summer recreational camp that provides a space for children with a cancer diagnosis to just be kids in a safe supportive environment.

They will be coming to visit our school on October 4. We will give them a very warm welcome and show our support. They are going to visit with us and enjoy a lunch provided by our PAC.

You can make a difference by donating today on our school’s fundraising page or purchasing a raffle ticket. Every dollar helps Cops for Cancer Tour de Rock pedal their way to end cancer.

For more information, you can visit tourderock.ca.

Thank you for your generous support and we can’t wait to welcome the team at our school.

The PAC is sponsoring a Bottle Drive on October 14th.  Don’t forget to save your bottles!  We will have more information about times and location in the next week.  PAC will also be sending out a link for volunteer sign-up.   Stay tuned!   This will also be the pick up date for Krispy Kreme donut orders.

Meet the Teacher Night will take place on Sept. 14th from 5:00 to 6:30.   Classroom and teacher visits will take place between 5:00 and 5:45.  Feel free to pop into your child’s classroom anytime during this time period.  At 5:45, PAC will be offering cake to all as a way to celebrate another year together at PEXSISEN.  PAC will also be pre-selling Krispy Kreme donuts!   Take a stroll through our garden, check out the beautiful sunflowers families planted in June and then feel free to have a picnic on our field.  The event will end at 6:30 pm.  See you there!

Hello everyone,

We are looking forward to seeing students in Grades 1-5 on Tuesday, Sept. 5th.  It is a half day to start the year. The bell to start the day will ring at 8:40 and we will be dismissing the students at 11:28.   The students will be lining up and released at their spots from last year.  Please don’t worry about bringing supplies, but your child will need a snack for recess.  The sunflowers planted by our families are gorgeous and ready to greet you to start the year!

Looking forward to beginning our second year at PEXSISEN Elementary!  Our first half day for students in Grades 1-5 is September 5th from 8:40 to 11:28.  September 6th is a full day (8:40 until 2:28) for students in Grades 1-5.  If you are a returning student, please go to your classroom line-up from last year and your teacher will be there to greet you.  If you are newly registered and have received a confirmation email, please come to the office and we will guide your to your new classroom.

If you registered over the summer, you will be contacted after August 28th when the school office reopens.   We will be looking at our registrations and finalizing placements during the first week and will contact you as soon as possible.

Kindergarten students start the following week on September 11th.  All Kindergarten students should have received a schedule of their gradual entry.  If you have not received this information, please contact the school the week of September 5th and we will be glad to help you.

Don’t worry about bringing school supplies for the first couple of days.  We will ask you to bring them when students move to their new classes for the year.   Just bring a big smile and be ready to have a wonderful day connecting with friends and all the incredible staff.

The first PAC meeting is September 5th in our Library Commons.   The meetings will take place the first Tuesday of every month.  The meetings can also be accessed virtually- a link will be sent out the last week of August.   Check out the PAC tab on the website and you will find a welcome letter from PAC, as well as the PAC meeting agenda.

The website has also been updated with important dates, including Planning Day (no school), Meet the Staff event, and the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation,

The sunflowers our families planted in June are growing tall and starting to bloom.   It is going to be a beautiful start to our year together.

See you soon,

Ms. D.
