Ella and her mom, Katie, were at Indigo on the last day, October 2nd to buy some books and contribute to the program. Thanks so much to everyone for your support of this important initiative.
Great news – we have been selected to participate in the Indigo Adopt a School Program. This is an exciting opportunity for our school to build our reading collections. 100% of the funds raised by our partner store between September 12th – October 2nd , 2022 will go towards books for our school and classroom libraries. Funds will be provided in the form of an Indigo e-gift card or Indigo corporate account for your school depending on the issued dollar amount. Indigo provides a 30% discount on the list price on books to all schools that participate in the Adopt A School program when they are using funds raised during the program.
- From now until October 2, you can donate to our school by purchasing books in-store at the Mayfair Indigo location.
- You can also donate directly: Pexsisen Elementary School – Victoria British Columbia — Indigo Love of Reading Foundation (givecloud.co)
- We are planning a fun fundraising event at the school that everyone can participate in – keep an eye on emails for more information.
Thank you for supporting! We are excited to fill our classrooms and library up with more books.
Looking forward to seeing the students tomorrow. Here are some great links that we thought you might find interesting and helpful as we move through this adventure together.

As well, here is short powerpoint that you can use to give your child a glimpse into the school. This is particularly useful for Kindergarten students who will be going to school for the very first time.
The big day is almost here. We open our doors to students in Grades 1-5 on Sept. 6th. It is a half day, starting at 8:40 and ending at 11:28. Our Kindergarten students will be joining us for Orientation Day on Sept. 9th. The building looks absolutely beautiful and we can’t wait to see all the children’s smiling faces as they enter their new school. Ms. Deichmann and I have had so much fun getting things ready for start up. See you soon!
You would have received an email this morning from Scott Stinson to letting families know about the construction delay of Centre Mountain Lellum Middle School (CML). Our school will temporarily house all of the Grade 7 students and staff from CML in our available classrooms.
CML will have their own teachers, support staff and administrators.
We understand this is not ideal for Grade 7 students who thought elementary school was behind them but it is a great opportunity for our Grade 5 students to buddy up with our Grade 7 students to learn more about middle school and mentor them for Grade 6.
We will do our best to work together and to help the students and staff of CML become part of our school community. If you have any questions, please contact us on or after August 29, 2022 when we return from summer break.

Welcome to PEXSISEN Elementary!
I am thrilled to welcome each of you as members of the learning community of PEXSISEN Elementary. Our school name was gifted by the Songhees Nation and means “the opening of hands”. What a wonderful gift indeed that we begin our adventure together with this vision at the forefront… hands open, welcoming each other to this beautiful place and time. We will open our doors on September 6th to an extraordinary journey of collaboration, learning and growth. This year, unlike the last few years, we will be actually able to meet in person in the fall! That is a delightful thought indeed. Stay tuned for more information about the first few weeks. I will continue to send regular email communication but you are welcome to email me at anytime with any questions.
Take care everyone,
Karen
(The students call me Ms. D)
